The Mucnhee Glucofit School’s Cricket Sixes saw the
tournament conclude in fine style with Richmond College, Galle
winning the Inter-School cricket sixes by defeating St. Peter’s by
32 runs in the final at Campbell Park on Sunday 26th
September, 2010.
Richmond beat defending champions St Joseph’s in the third round and
then overcame Prince of Wales in the quarter finals easily and had a
big win against Joseph Vaz Wennappuwa by 79 runs in the semi finals
thereby being dubbed as the most dominant team in the run-up their
final. On the other hand, opponents St. Peter’s had some anxious
moments against hosts Wesley with a final ball victory before
defeating Royal Panadura in the semi final.
Richmond’s Yasoda Lanka was the best performer of the tournament
taking away three awards for the best batsman, most number of sixes
and the man of the tournament.
Richmond skipper Dananjaya de Silva was the man of the final while
Richmond was also adjudged as the most disciplined side of the
tournament.
Royal spinner Kavindu Ashan who had the honour of taking the first
ever hat-trick in the history of tournament which he achieved
against DSS was rewarded with the best bowlers’ prize while Lahiru
Jayaratne of St Peter’s was adjudged the best fielder.
